Meet Sufia Hadjo Giza

I was first introduced to yoga at 17 and took my first formal course at 25. Three years later, yoga became an essential part of my recovery after a work-related car accident left me paralyzed for six months and living with three herniated discs. That experience taught me the power of patient movement, intentional breathing, and adapting each practice to the needs of the individual.

Over the years, I have been blessed to study with respected teachers including Asar Hapi, Krishna Kaur, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Pamela Meriweather, Rolf Gates, and Yirser Ra Hotep. Their guidance helped shape my approach to Kemetic Yoga, which combines purposeful postures with Rule of Four Breathing and Geometric Progression.

My classes emphasize trauma-informed practice and are thoughtfully adapted for beginners, elders, and people with physical limitations. I create a patient and supportive environment where students can explore movement, emotional balance, cultural connection, and deeper awareness at their own pace.

My work is also rooted in addressing intergenerational pain—the experiences that can be carried forward without being fully recognized. For me, change begins with the breath. Breath is everything. Breath is power. When we learn to guide the breath, we create space to calm the mind and reconnect with ourselves.

Let’s bend, breathe, and be well.
